2nd Line NOC Engineer

Key areas of Responsibilities:

  • The role will be primarily supporting Juniper and CISCO powered core networks
  • Experience in LAN and WAN technologies, Working  with Cisco Router (ASR, 7000 Series through to 1800 Series) and Switches (Catalyst , Nexus and HP A &E-series)
  • Experience in providing high level technical implementation and support of IP PBX, TCP/IP, SIP, PC LAN networks
  • Must have a good understanding of various communication protocols, including Session Initiation Protocol (SIP)
  • Knowledge of Networking architectures, industry best practice routing and switching design principles (i.e. Cisco Campus design- multi-layered LAN architecture)
  • Working Knowledge of routing protocols (EIGRP,OSPF, multicast and BGP) and switching  protocols (VLANs, STP, RSTP, VTP, trunking, CEF)
  • Understanding of technologies including Ethernet, ADSL, Firewalls Cisco ASA, Fortinet, SonicWALL , WatchGuard & Check point
  • Knowledge of Solarwinds Product suite, Network Performance Monitor, Network Configuration Manager
  • Must hold one or more certification(s) in JNCIA or CCNA , JNCIP or CCNP and or demonstrable experience
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Works as part of a team , Can work independently

 

Objectives:

  • Work under general direction. Use discretion in identifying and resolving complex problems and assignments. Receive specific instructions and have work reviewed at frequent milestones by the NOC Manager. Determine when issues should be escalated to a higher level.

 

Experience/Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of BGP, OSPF, HSRP, VRRP, GLBP, CoPP, VRF, VLANs, PVLANs, ACLs, STP, MST, VTP, Fabric path/Trill, MPLS L3VPN, MPLS L2VPN {BGP,LDP signalling based}, L2TP and NSRP
  • Monitoring tools, e.g. Nagios, SolarWinds
