J O Hambro's virtualisation project delivers almost 100% system availability

J O Hambro is a financial services provider specialising in management of private investor portfolios. The investment boutique is regulated by the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and operates from its offices in London, Singapore, New York and Boston, managing £20.1 billion of assets across a range of award-winning equity funds and segregated portfolios.

Challenge

With 100 employees working at their London office, and just four in-house IT staff to support them, Head of IT Lisa Corden was looking for a new desktop support service provider as they had outgrown their previous one. 
The company was also experiencing regular issues with their physical on-site servers which was causing significant business disruption and affecting productivity of the team. With outdated services they were missing out on the full benefits of the current digital economy and paying for a service which was no longer doing them justice.

Solution

Account manager Hayley Mullins built up a good relationship with Lisa and worked with her to help understand what solutions could help drive the company’s technology and infrastructure forward. Hayley quickly identified that service desk and virtualisation were the key services required to help JO Hambro increase their business efficiency.

The storage, virtualisation and data centre project was proposed to help J O Hambro achieve a more robust, flexible and reliable infrastructure with the added support of a disaster recovery site.

Results

Since moving their servers to the CORETX cloud, as well as the improvement in system uptime, the knowledge and experience of the CORETX team has been one of the other major advantages for J O Hambro. As the company’s in-house IT team is focused on day-to-day support and project management, having access to the skills in the CORETX team as an extension has proved invaluable. Lisa said that she is confident that whenever she calls for advice on aspects of IT management that her team don’t have the skills in that she can rely on CORETX to guide her and help her to achieve her objectives.
